Patthar Par Patthar Jodata Mahel Dhere Dhere Banto Jaaye

(Knowledge, Truth, Thanks)

Gujarati Bhajan no. 861 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
Shri Devendra Ghia, fondly called Pujya Kaka, our Guruji has given treasure of bhajans through which he is guiding us, influencing us, illuminating us and being with us always. In this beautiful bhajan, kaka is shedding light on principles of preservation and values.

He is saying...
Laying stones upon stones, slowly, a palace is created, with one one stone falling, a palace also becomes a ruin.

Controlling one one impulse and vices, finally a discipline is established, with one one impulses recreated, a heart also becomes a ruin.

Gathering one one soldier, an army is created, with one one soldier leaving, a kingdom is also lost.

Merging of one one drop, a large ocean is created, with one one drop drying, even a lake get dried up.

Putting one one brick in place, slowly, a building is created, with one one brick falling, strong building also crumbles.

Saving one one rupee (money), a wealth is created, with one one rupee spent, even a treasure gets emptied out.

Kaka is explaining that to create anything, it takes a whole lot efforts and patience. But, it takes no time to destroy such creation whether it is a palace, or a building or wealth or internal qualities like discipline and values. Therefore, we must remain mindful, alert and wise to preserve what is created. And also, value the smallest particle of any creation whether it is one stone, or one brick or one soldier or one drop or even one rupee. Kaka is shedding light on principle of preservation and teaching us the value of what we have.
To be disciplined in one’s thoughts, actions, and habits is the source of all other values.

He has written about 10,000 hymns which cover various aspects of spirituality, such as devotion, inner knowledge, truth, meditation, right action and right living. Most of the Bhajans are in Gujarati, but there is also a treasure trove of Bhajans in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.
