(Mind, Heart, Feelings, Thoughts, Remembrance)

Gujarati Bhajan no. 952 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
Pujya Kaka, our Guruji has evolved us as a person, as a devotee and as a student of spirituality. He has taken us on a journey of awareness and change in our priorities, our focus and our faith in Divine. In this Gujarati bhajan, he is guiding us to calm our mind.

He is saying...

You keep your mind under your control, but if you let go of the control, then you only will be dragged by it.

With experience also, you have not learnt your lesson.
Once you let go of the control, it will take lot of efforts to bring your mind back in control.

To gain control, you must keep your self disciplined.
It dances a lot, and it will make you dance a lot with it.

Many have tried to keep their mind under control, but have failed.
Without getting disappointed, start making the efforts.

If your efforts are true, then it will come under your control.
Don’t become lazy in your efforts, keep this matter as your focus.

Kaka is explaining that uncontrollable mind speaks of disastrous life. The most difficult step for any spiritual seeker is to keep his mind energy of action under control. The dancing and wandering characteristics of a mind will never allow a seeker to find peace and calmness in his being. Action of a mind needs to be channelised towards Divine instead of worldly pleasures. When the mind follows wisdom and is filled with divinity, it’s doing an action of Divine. One must become the master of his mind rather than mind becoming master of his being. Kaka is urging us to use our mind as a tool to approach the Divine.

He has written about 10,000 hymns which cover various aspects of spirituality, such as devotion, inner knowledge, truth, meditation, right action and right living. Most of the Bhajans are in Gujarati, but there is also a treasure trove of Bhajans in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.
