Na Sachu Che Jag Nu Sukh, Na Sachi To Jag Ni Preet

(Knowledge, Truth, Thanks)

Gujarati Bhajan no. 972 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Lyrics in English
taki rahe e to svarthathi, jag ni che a to reet
na sachi che kaaya tari, preet toye te to bandhi
maya jya eni haiye lagi, dukh ni gathari te to bandhi
kaik kayao rakhamam mali, joi e, maya na tyagi
kayane jya te sachi mani, thai sharu tya to upadhi
ek na ek din to vitatam jaye, kaaya to purani thaye
shakti eni to ghatati jaye, dukh to saad e upajave
mohani matra jya vadhati jaye, dukh saad e saathe lave
chhodavi akari to bani jaye, kripa 'maa' ni jo nav thaye
maya to che duhkhanum mula, upajave haiye e to shula
bhaktibhavanum leje tu trishula, thashe maya to nirmula

Explanation in English
In this Gujarati bhajan, he is reflecting on our attachment to illusion and our ordinary existence.
He is saying...
Happiness in this world is not real, and love in this world is also not real.
Both are existing only on one aspect, that is selfishness.
Your body is not the truth, still you have become attached to it.
As the attachment grows deeper in the heart, a bundle of unhappiness is packed by you.
Even after seeing so many bodies turning into ashes, you have not forsaken the attachment to this body.
When you believe this body to be the truth, then understand that all your problems will start.
Days after days are passing by, and body starts becoming old, and the strength of the body starts decreasing. It creates lot of unhappiness within.
When degree of attachment intensifies then the unhappiness also multiplies.
It becomes very difficult to let go of this attraction, if the grace of Divine is not bestowed.
Illusion is the root of all unhappiness, it creates many heartaches.
You take the trident of devotion and eradicate the attachment to this illusion.
Kaka is explaining that nothing is real about our outer existence. Our body is not the truth. Our life goes through the cycle of birth, growth and death. Nothing in this world is real or permanent, so being attached to this illusion will bring only misery eventually. The illusion is nothing but the egotism of embodied soul. To be identified with that which is transitory is to live in untruth. Kaka is urging us to rise above this ordinary consciousness and connect with higher consciousness and become true to self and connect with Divine and then into the union with Divine.

He has written about 10,000 hymns which cover various aspects of spirituality, such as devotion, inner knowledge, truth, meditation, right action and right living. Most of the Bhajans are in Gujarati, but there is also a treasure trove of Bhajans in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.
