Gujarati Bhajan no. 999 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
Pujya Kaka, our Guruji has evolved us as a person, as a devotee and as a student of spirituality. He has taken us on a journey of awareness and change in our priorities, our focus and our faith in Divine. In this Gujarati bhajan, he is shedding light on our ordinary existence,

He is saying...
Day has risen and day has passed without your vision, O Mother, a day is wasted.

Breaths are inhaled and breaths are exhaled without taking your name, O Mother, these breaths are wasted.

Got this human birth, and life has passed without your vision, O Mother, this life is wasted.

In sprouting of many expectations, O Mother, I just remained stuck in there.
Though, I was soaked in love, I was engulfed by feelings of animosity.

Every step taken was filled with ego, and kept on drowning in this futile self worth.

Heart and mind is awakened, but forgot about in the attraction of this illusion.

Hopes and expectations kept on rising in the heart, and got dragged by these expectations.

With efforts, made many resolutions, but laziness kept breaking my resolutions.

With dissatisfaction firing up in the heart, stayed deprived of all the happiness.

Kaka is beautifully explaining the condition that we all are in. We all are oscillating constantly between worldly affairs and spirituality. Though we may be spiritually inclined momentarily, but in our attraction of this illusion, we forget all about our spiritual path. Kaka is urging us to shift our focus towards the actual purpose of this life. He is saying that a day passed without remembering Divine is wasted, a human life passed without connecting with Divine is wasted, and breaths taken without chanting the name of Divine is wasted. Kaka is urging us to invoke divinity and reach our soul through prayer, meditation and devotion.
