Gujarati Bhajan no. 1045 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
In this Gujarati bhajan on self awareness,
He is saying...
Roamed here, roamed there, roamed in every corner of the world,
For happiness, I wandered everywhere, but happiness was not found anywhere.
Tried looking for happiness in the palace, but unhappiness was residing there too.
I went and stayed in a hut, but unhappiness did not leave that place too.
I wandered a lot in giving service, but looking at grief stricken, I felt unhappy too.
As I sat down to recite the hymns, my mind betrayed me.
As I sat down to worship, the thoughts of my circumstances did not leave me.
I kept sitting in front of the idol, but my mind kept on wandering all over the world.
Wandering and wandering, I really got tired , but couldn’t find happiness.
Dispelling my disorders and thoughts, I entered deep in my consciousness, I found an ocean of joy.
Kaka is explaining that searching for happiness in places of the world like a palace or a hut and in your mind (where complexity prevails in abundance) is a futile exercise. Kaka is reflecting that the source of true happiness is not in the outside world . Happiness can not be found when our mind and thoughts are not still, no matter where we go or do. We can not even worship or focus in Divine if our mind and thoughts are wandering. Kaka is urging us to focus on discarding our thoughts which are identifying with our mind, eventually bringing only sorrows. Kaka is urging us to explore the level of consciousness which is connected with our true self, our soul and eternal happiness will be attained obliviously.
