Gujarati Bhajan no. 1059 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
Shri Devendra Ghia, fondly called Pujya Kaka, our Guruji has given treasure of bhajans through which he is guiding us, influencing us, illuminating us and being with us always. In this bhajan of introspection with many examples,

He is saying...
If a donkey finds a garbage, and if a monkey finds alcohol,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

If a person finds hashish (bhang), and if a drunkard finds alcohol,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

If a diseased dog caresses, everyone will push him away.
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

If a hungry wolf finds a prey, and if a desire is wriggled,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

Flying high, still looking down, like a bird in search of a prey,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

The focus is not moved away from this Illusion, just like a dog tail always remaining curved,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

After committing sins, to go on a pilgrimage is just like a cat going on a pilgrimage (no meaning).
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

The illusion is stuck in the heart like butter gets stuck in the sand (impossible to separate),
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

The dreams of mind has broken, and condition has worsened,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

I kept yearning for water and kept running after mirage,
Such is my condition, O Divine Mother, then what to ask, what to ask.

Kaka is explaining that when wrong attributes are given more opportunity then impact of it is catastrophic. He is explaining this by giving many examples like donkey in front of the garbage, or a jumpy monkey given alcohol and so on. Kaka is further explaining that our characters are so deep rooted that despite all the knowledge, all the awareness, all the words of wisdom from saints and higher souls, we go back to our original state of ignorance. We go back to our indulgent self stuck in illusion. Kaka is exhorting in this bhajan by giving many many examples to make sincere efforts to move away from indulgences so that we can progress in right direction.
