ના ધોજે મેલી ચાદર તું મેલા પાણીથી

થાશે ના એ ચોખ્ખી, થાશે વધુ ને વધુ મેલી
રહી છે થાતી, મેલી ને મેલી, છે જરૂર તો એને ધોવી
રહે સદાયે એ તો વિધવિધ વૃત્તિથી રંગાયેલી
ના છોડશે રંગ જલ્દી એનો, પડશે મુશ્કેલ ચોખ્ખી કરવી
વિવિધ રંગો ચડયા છે, વિવિધ રંગે છે ચિતરાયેલી
તપ ને સંયમની ભઠ્ઠીમાં તપાવી, રંગ દેજે એનો ઉતારી
કુસંગને અવગુણોથી રાખજે સદા એને બચાવી
ના કરી ચોખ્ખો, ના ચડશે છાપ તો જોઈએ એવી
કરી ચોખ્ખી, રાખ ચીવટ થાયે ના ફરી એ તો એવી

In this Gujarati bhajan, Pujya Kakaji is saying…
Please do not clean the linen (life) with dirty water (bad attributes).
It will not get cleaned, in fact, it will become more and more dirty.
It already has become dirtier and dirtier. It needs to be cleaned.
It keeps getting colored with many desires and different attitudes.
These colors will not fade away easily. It will become even more difficult to clean.
Many colors have stuck to it. It is painted with many many colors.
In the furnace of penance and discipline, get rid of these colors.
Keep it away from bad company and bad attributes.
If you do not clean it, then it will not leave imprints that are needed.
After cleaning it, make sure it doesn’t become dirty again.
