I shall be what I want to be
I shall be what I want to be
Is it the body known by the name me?
Or the dwelling spirit within me is me?
Know not who I am, want to know me, within me
Close as I am to me, still I am ignorant about me
If seeing is believing, I have never seen me.
Still I am sure, I shall find me, within me
Is it all powerful, Almighty always guiding me?
Never let me down, helped me, what I want to be
It is clear as crystal, I am he and he is within me.

Explanation in English
In this English hymn on introspection, He is asking the following -
We as human being, choose what we want to be
But, are we what we are because of our physical body that has been named so and so on this earth in this life ?
Or, are we what we are because of what is actually buried deepest within us, our soul ?
I would like to know the real me, that is truly inside me
We do not know our own real self even though we are closest to our own self
As we usually believe only whatever that we see with our own eyes, we don't see our real self
But, I have no doubts that the Almighty God will help me to find my true self within me so that I can become what He really wants me to be
By my becoming what He wants with His help, it is only then that I will know that the Almighty God is within me and I am part of Him and so who I actually am
Due to our being able to understand only the one dimension of this physical life and world, we don't really know who we are and what God wanted us to be. We also don't want to accept or believe what we actually are with all our human failings and qualities. But, with God's grace, He will be able to help us to know what we should be and how to become what He wants. When that happens, we will know that He is in us and we are in Him and that there is no separation between God and us
