Worries did not stop, I got more worries;

When I got married, I thought I was lucky

Luck was far away from me, that was reality.

Here and there in life, I had to run for shelter

Rain was pouring from all sides, had to carry on shoulder,

In world, my life for me became an equation.

It was I and I, who put myself in that situation,

In life, I was searching treasure of pleasure,

Marriage taught me, life is painful pleasure.

SATGURU DEVENDRA GHIA (KAKA)
English Explanation Increase Font Decrease Font

In this English hymn, Kaka is gently explaining to us how the fulfilment of our most desired expectations may not result in real, true and permanent contentment by using the example of marriage -

It is a normal progression in life for us to get educated after our birth and then get married to be able to settle down into a financially comfortable and happy social life with spouse, family and friends

So, we study very hard to get good marks for good schools and then into good colleges so that we can get a good career

This is turn would lead us to get a good spouse, who will share our life and everything else that life will throw at us

As we get into good careers and find a good spouse, we consider ourselves to be very fortunate and well on our way to a happy life

But, we do not realise that reality of life can be very difficult

We are not only now going to be just concerned about our own self, but we will also now need to ensure everything for our spouse and family also

All the issues and difficulties faced by each family member is also automatically our own issue and difficulty to resolve also, along with individual desires and expectations to be also met by one and all

So, we start chasing after one thing or another in an endless cycle

But, we have to realise that it was our own self that has put us into this endless situation that can not ever get fulfilled

We hoped for and expected something, which when it was achieved, then led to something else and then something else and then something else without any end in sight

Kaka is showing us to be very careful with what we wish for and what we may think to be an answer to our problem may not necessarily be so at all in the long run. Undoubtedly, life will be full of twists and turns, but may seldom result in what we may be hoping for. However, the only sure shot, true solution for any issues in life, is the Almighty. God will never let us down no matter what, as long as we persevere with our faith and devotion in Him and surrender ourselves to whatever He wills for us.
