(Mind, Heart, Feelings, Thoughts, Remembrance)

Gujarati Bhajan no. 697 by Satguru Devendra Ghia - Kaka

Explanation in English
Shri Devendra Ghia, our Guruji, fondly called Pujya Kaka has written many many bhajans on life approach along with devotional bhajans. Spiritual awakening in day to day life eventually leads to spiritual awareness and faith in Divine. In this Gujarati bhajan, he has kept his mind as separate entity and,
He is saying...
My mind only has defeated me, what is the point of complaining,
My mind has kept on wandering and running around the world, forgetting all about Divine,
Sometimes, it sits a little peacefully, making me little happy, the next moment, it jumps and runs and runs where and where,
Even with experience, it never becomes wiser, it never leaves his old habits,
It keeps on jumping and jumping, and never settles down.
Day and night it keeps on wandering in never ending process.
As soon as, it calmed down, a thought occurred in my mind,
Sometimes, it did wander, keeping thoughts of Divine Mother in there.
Finally, found little calmness, and it got ready for Divine.
Slowly and steadily, it started becoming calmer and I experienced peace for a while.
Now, it is longing to reach the doors of Divine.
Kaka is explaining that first and foremost requisite for endeavouring the spiritual journey is to calm our mind. A mind is a complex interplay of emotions, tense and thoughts. Human mind is an entity where there is always a conflict of success and failure. Evenness of mind is called spiritual awakening. Stillness of mind means rising of spiritual consciousness.
Vertical growth of spiritual awareness is laid on the horizontal foundation of human mind.
