કર્યા તો જપ ને ધર્યા ખૂબ ધ્યાન

મન જો ન આવ્યું કાબૂમાં, આવ્યા ન કોઈ એ કામ
ભજ્યા ખૂબ ભજન ને તપ્યાં ખૂબ તપ
હટયા ના જો લોભ લાલચ, આવ્યા ન કોઈ એ કામ
કીધાં ખૂબ પૂજન ને કીધા અનુષ્ઠાન
ભેદ હૈયેના જો ના મટયાં, આવ્યા ન કાંઈ એ કામ
કરી ખૂબ સેવા ને ફર્યા તીરથધામ
અન્યમાં પ્રભુ ના જોયાં, આવ્યા ન કોઈ એ કામ
કરી પુણ્યની ખૂબ વાતો, છૂટયાં ના પાપાચાર
લુખી વાતમાં કાંઈ ના વળ્યું, આવ્યા ન કોઈ કામ
કથા શ્રવણ ને મનન કરી, સુધર્યા ના આચાર
સમય એ તો વ્યર્થ ગયો, આવ્યા ન કોઈ એ કામ

mann jo na avyum kabumam, aavya na koi e kaam
bhajya khub bhajan ne tapyam khub taap
hataya na jo lobh lalacha, aavya na koi e kaam
kidha khub pujan ne jo naaya anushthana
bhed mataiyana kai e kaam
kari khub seva ne pharya tirathadhama
anyamam prabhu na joyam, aavya na koi e kaam

In this Gujarati bhajan of introspection and reflection,
He is saying...
Did many recitations, and did many meditations,
If Mind has not come under control, then it is of no use.
Sang many hymns and did lot of penance,
If greed and temptations have not been discarded, then it is of no use.
Did many pujas (an act of worship), and performed many rituals,
If differences of heart have not been dispelled, then it is of no use.
Did lot of service, and journeyed many pilgrimages,
If did not visualize God in others, then it is of no use.
Spoke a lot about virtues, but did not get away from sinful acts,
Such empty talk has no meaning, it is of no use.
Heard and reflected on many scriptures, but behaviour has not changed,
Then, the time is wasted, it is of no use.
Kaka (Satguru Devendra Ghia) is exhorting on the fact that we all think that we are spiritual, and perform many religious activities and go on many pilgrimages and think of ourselves to be spiritually inclined. But the truth of the matter is that we are far from being spiritual. Till the time, we do not change from within, none of these external activities is of any meaning. When internally, we become pure and full of love, then the same will be reflected in our behaviour, conduct and actions. Kaka (Satguru Devendra Ghia) is urging us to seek the true meaning of spirituality within us.
