જનમતા, મારું મારું કરતા શીખ્યા, સ્વાર્થના ઘૂંટડા ભરતા રહ્યા

રગેરગમાં ગયો એ વ્યાપી, બીજું બધું ભૂલી ગયા
ત્યાગની વાત કરતા ગયાં, ત્યાગમાં સ્વાર્થ શોધી રહ્યા
પ્રાર્થનામાં સ્વાર્થ ભરી, સ્વાર્થ કાજે દર્શન માંગી રહ્યા
દેખાતા જગના દર્શન થાતા, માયાના રસ પીવાતા રહ્યા
જાગતા ઊંઘતા, માયાના નિત્ય દર્શન કરતા રહ્યા
સગપણ સ્વાર્થે ટક્યા, ટકરાતા સ્વાર્થ તૂટી ગયા
સ્વાર્થમાં તો ભાન ભૂલ્યા, વિવેક ચૂક્તા ગયા
નિત્ય નવા સ્વાર્થ જાગતા રહ્યા, સ્વાર્થે સદા તણાતા ગયા
ખરાનું ખોટું કરતા ગયા, સ્વાર્થમાં ડૂબતા ગયા
સધાતા સ્વાર્થ મધ ઝર્યા, ટકરાતાં અગ્નિ ઝર્યા
સ્વાર્થે ના સમજાયું, પ્રભુદર્શને સ્વાર્થ સમાયા

ragerag maa gayo e vyapi, biju badhu bhuli gaya

Explanation in English
In this Gujarati bhajan Kakaji is talking about our approach towards life and making us understand about being selfish, self centred and it's intense penetration in our lives. We are drowned in it and have lost our wisdom.
Kaka (Satguru Devendra Ghia) ji explains
As soon as we are born we are taught to be self-centered, and filling the throat with selfishness.
It went on flowing in the veins and rest all was forgotten.
We talk about renunciation, but still we keep on looking out for selfishness in renunciation.
Filling selfishness in our prayers we want to seek vision of the Divine too for fulfilling our selfishness.
Seeing the world visibly, kept on drinking the juice of Illusions
Either waking up or sleeping kept on seeing Illusions,
Relatives also were attached due to selfishness as the conflict erupted selfishness broke.
Being selfish forgot so missed being wise.
Every day new interest and selfishness went on constantly arising.
Selfishness always made me tensed.
Went on doing right to wrong and drowning in selfishness.
Lost in selfishness but when collision took place fire sprinkled out.
Drowned in selfishness could not understand that the vision of the Divine was also absorbed in selfishness.
